If you’re anything like us, you’ve been obsessively counting down the days to June 12th, the release date of Sabaa Tahir’s A Reaper at the Gates. We’ve been holding our breath since A Torch Against the Night, waiting to see where the story will leave Laia, Elias, and Helene — and what will become of the Martial Empire. Well, Sabaa decided to give us a collective heart attack Wednesday when she dropped an excerpt from the hotly-anticipated third installment of the Ember in the Ashes series. The epic teaser continued the saga with same cast of characters we’ve grown to love (and hate) — and even higher stakes. (And did we mention the excerpt ends with a cliffhanger that left sweaty-palmed, anxiety-ridden, and desperate for more?!) Clearly, we weren’t the only ones totally losing it over the reveal. We’ve rounded up some Emberlings who, just like us, could simply not keep their cool.
