It’s been a stellar year for shelves everywhere. Games were hacked, thrones were claimed, and—let’s face it—tears were shed.
And now, it’s time to say goodbye to seven of these beloved series as they take their bows (…and by “say goodbye” we mean re-read obsessively).
Warcross
It’s okay, we all cried too. A lot. Wildcard has us saying good bye to our favorite rainbow-haired hacker and her team of Phoenix Riders. After winning the epic Warcross tournament (and our hearts), this duology’s heart-stopping finale (*cought* Hideo *cough*) had us feeling all of the feels.
The Glittering Court
The stunning conclusion to the Glittering Court competition is upon us with the final installment of the series, The Emerald Sea. As if any of us have managed to get over the ending of Vampire Academy yet, now Richelle Mead is making us let go of this one too?
Flame in the Mist
Renée Ahdieh’s gorgeous fantasy duology took its bows with Smoke in the Sun (so basically now we’re counting down the days for Renée to resurrect the vampires of YA in her new series, The Beautiful. *happy dance*)
The Reader
It may be sort of surreal to finish a series about a world where reading isn’t a thing, but that doesn’t make it any easier. Traci Chee’s final book in the Sea of Ink and Gold trilogy, The Storyteller, is joining shelves November 13th!
Forest of a Thousand Lanterns
Fairytale retellings can be especially hard to let go of, but Julie C. Dao’s Forest of a Thousand Lanterns is going out with an explosive finale (if you couldn’t tell by the title) that we’ll always hold dear in our hearts/shelves. Kingdom of the Blazing Phoenix is out November 6th!
The Falling Kingdoms
Betrayal. Dark magic. Battle. It’s been an epic run, but our friends from Mystica bid us adieu in the sixth book of the Falling Kingdoms series.
Rebel of the Sands
*Big breath* Alright, guys. We’ve followed Amani from being a poor orphan in a dead-end town to being the leader of a revolution. In March of this year, we joined her for one final battle in Hero at the Fall and we are still not over it.
