This August 3rd, we’ll be celebrating Esther Day in honor of Esther Earl, an incredible 16-year-old who wanted her community to remember the power and importance of love.
Esther Day was started by the This Star Won’t Go Out foundation in response to a conversation in which author John Green asked Esther how the community should celebrate her birthday. Her answer? For everyone to tell their family and friends that they love them.
A beautiful message, right?
Read on to find out how you can celebrate Esther Day this year!
1. Tell your loved ones how important they are to you.
Say it however you want! In person, on the phone, in text – it’s all about the message.
2. Share your message on the official This Star Won’t Go Out Tumblr.
You can submit text, photo, link, quote, and video posts anonymously or with your Tumblr account.
3. Print out and learn how to make an origami wishing star.
Then take a picture with your star and share it online with #EstherDay!
