Hi!
I’m Navdeep Singh Dhillon, the author of SUNNY G’S SERIES OF RASH DECISIONS! I’m an adjunct professor of creative writing and English at Borough of Manhattan Community College, and co-founder of IshqInABackpack, a fun narrative travel blog. I was a former linguist in the U.S. Navy, ESL teacher in China, and door-to-door knife salesman. I hold an MFA in creative writing from California State University, Fresno, a post-grad degree from the Writers’ Institute at CUNY, and am a proud two-time Voices of Our Nation fiction workshop alum. Born in England, raised in Tanzania, Nigeria, Dubai, and Fresno, California, I am a Punjabi boy at heart =)

SUNNY G’s SERIES OF RASH DECISIONS is my debut novel: a fast paced, super fun prom night adventure set in Fresno, California about a nerdy, crocheting, cosplaying Punjabi Sikh teen who comes to terms with his identity, grief, and life after high school. Features fandoms galore, a Hmong love interest, disability rep (the MC stutters), Nigerian aunties, and real talk on heavy issues like alcoholism, death, religion, and bullying.

Like the novel, this playlist is a chaotic array of experiences, emotions, moods. Songs range from Punjabi heavy metal to K-pop to British garage, catchy existential French dance and multilingual popular songs in different genres glorifying alcohol and ones talking about addiction and grief. I chose these songs to echo the emotional ranges Sunny goes through during the course of the night.
